JJ arrives in Stockholm from Lisbon...
Just before I grapple with the Stockholm public transport system once again, I thought I would put this picture of my breakfast online for the benefit of Noel Britten who told us last night of a stand up comedian who was showing the other acts via a picture taken on his phone how good his breakfast was at his bed and breakfast. Noel could not believe anyone could be sad enough to do that... Breakfast at the Grand...
Half past six in the morning is not a time that I would normally have anything to do with.
But today was different...
I must get to FISM.
The thing is I am in Lisbon.
The first ever Street Magic World Festival has just finished. It was a huge success and the city big wigs have already asked for the second one to be staged in July 2007.
Luckily, as one of the fifteen acts involved, I am in the hands of the organisers who have "Furby" waiting for me (and Mad Martin from Argentina) to wisk us off to the airport at 7.00am.
So just as most of the FISM registrants were queuing up to get their goody bags, I was getting on a the plane to Stockholm. Loads of blonde people were on that plane. I get to Stockholm and check in at one of the poshest hotels I have ever had the luck to stay at...and then head off for the convention centre arriving in time to have a beer with Martin and Georgina MacMillan before going to the second showing of the opening Nordic Magic Show. (more later maybe...)
Sadly I am therefore unable to report on any of the competitors (I even missed one who apparently fell off the stage.) I am led to believe that apart from the slim possibility of a pretty good manipulator getting something, I most probably haven't missed any prize winners. Nothing happening in the Convention Centre after the show so every one went back to the city centre...some to the civic reception and others to their hotels...I went to BurgerKing. After a double whopper meal I met up with some magicians at the SAS Radisson...
